TRI’s state of the art fully automated AASHTO accredited laboratory provides over 30 different geotechnical tests. In addition to soil classification and density testing TRI can perform both sand and gravel permeability testing in our fixed wall permeameters. With 45 flexible wall permeameters and the use of mercury U-tubes we can and provide rapid turnaround for compacted clay liner permeability testing.
Our advanced geotechnical testing laboratory has 13 one dimensional consolidation cells and two direct shear boxes. With our automated equipment we can perform residual strength of soils by the direct shear method, 1-D consolidation using controlled-strain loading (CRS), 1-D swell or settlement potential of cohesive soils. In addition to unconfined and unconsolidated undrained (UU) strength testing we have the capability to perform consolidated drained and undrained triaxial shear strength for both single and multi-stage specimens. Our two True-Path load frames with flow pumps allow us to perform triaxial compression testing on specimens over an effective stress range of 0.5 to 350 psi. In addition to the large effective stress range that is available we can provide the Stress History and Normalized Soil Engineering Properties (SHANSEP Method). We have the ability to perform these tests in both compression and extension.
